From May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect. This new law was created to ensure that all data held and processed by organisations is kept securely and safely and processed lawfully.

All public organisations, including schools and academies, are required to comply with GDPR legislation by law. At South Gosforth First School, we have worked carefully on our GDPR procedures and protocols to ensure that we adhere to all of our statutory responsibilities in this area. As a result of this:

Senior Leaders and office staff access regular training and monitoring in this area to ensure that we are fully GDPR compliant
All staff have untertaken internal CPD to ensure that everyone is aware of their responsibilities
We have worked with other schools to establish how we can monitor data protection across the Gosforth Schools Trust

All of the schools in the Gosforth Schools' Trust, including South Gosforth First School, are currently supported by 'Veritau' (our Data Protection Officer) who regularly update us with the latest GDPR guidance and practice, so that we can all ensure that we remain GDPR compliant.

Privacy Notices

Privacy Notices tell you what we do with your personal information when you make contact with us or use one of the services which we provide.

They tell you:

Why we are able to process your information
What purpose we are processing it for
Whether you have to provide it to us
How long we store it for
Whether there are other recipients of your personal information
Whether we intend to transfer it to another country, and
Whether we do automated decision-making or profiling.
