Year Group Long-Term and Medium-Term Plans

Our Approach to Curriculum Planning at SGFS

At South Gosforth First School, we approach the planning of our curriculum very carefully. Our curriculum is designed to be broad, balanced, progressive and sequential and our talented and dedicated staff produce detailed long-term (yearly) and medium-term (half-termly) plans, based upon the DfE National Curriculum in England, in order to ensure that we have robust coverage across all curriculum areas. We then use these plans to create shorter-term weekly planning which takes into account the needs of all of our learners, so that all of our pupils can make great progress from their own relative starting points.

We upload our long-term and medium-term plans to our website, so that our families know what their children are learning in school and can talk to them about what they have remembered and what they have enjoyed.
