Emma Dunn
Co-opted Governor
I am delighted to be part of the Governing Body as a co‑opted governor with SEND link responsibility. I have worked within special education for 18 years, having originally trained as a secondary school teacher. I am currently Deputy Headteacher of a large all‑age special school in Northumberland, with responsibility for Inclusion, Admissions and English.
Alongside my school role, I have been seconded to the Local Authority for the past four years as a SEND Advisor for two days per week. This work involves reviewing, monitoring and supporting schools across the county in developing effective SEND strategies and securing sustained improvement. Training and development is a passion of mine so I became a facilitator for the nationally recognised SENCo qualification and have supported and delivered training to over 100 SENCos and school practitioners over the past three years.
I have joined the Resources and Finance Committee and am very much looking forward to strategically supporting the school, offering informed and supportive challenge, and contributing positively to the school’s continued strengths and ongoing development
